Does anybody know if there is a program that automatically takes a large mp3 file (album) and cuts it so all the individual tracks are listed to make an ALBW file? I have some large concert mp3 files that I would like to make ALBW files. It's kind of a pain to cut large mp3 files with my computer access program.
I think it has to due with the software you are using to play this music back. I have not heard of any software the plays album software, perhaps others have.

Albumwrap is shareware program and can be downloaded for both PC and Mac from http://www.infamus.com/albumwrap/ for $15 shareware price. Unfortunately, the company never really made the program work for OSX and even the Extractor doesn't work for OSX. So, one has to use a program such as File Juicer to extract MP3 files from an ALBW file (Source (http://www.versiontracker.com/php/feedback/article.php?story=20061102161026470)).
Apparently, iTunes can open and extract MP3 files from some AlbW files made by AlbumWrap. However, this is not always the case and that is why the File Juicer may be necessary. Another problem that iTunes may have is multiple MP3 files that have the same name in an AlbW file.
Albumwrap is an old shareware program. Version 1.0 was available in 2001 and I don't think that there is a later version. A full version download with crack and kygen is available at http://www.infinitewarez.com/search-warez-download-rapidshare-megaupload-torrent-AlbumWrap-with-crack-serial-keygen.html There have been complaints that Albumwrap will corrupt perfectly good files (Source (http://www.twoeyes.org/archive/000018.html)).
There is another program called MP3Wrap/MP3Split which are independent alternatives to AlbumWrap and Extractor. MP3Wrap/Split can be downloaded from http://mp3wrap.sourceforge.net/ and is both free and open source. It looks like a good program but there is no version for the Mac or OSX.
You would imagine that for a problem that is this important (i.e. making files that are collections of mp3 files), there would be many programs and the music industry would be very interested in having a universal format. There are constraints within iTunes itself for creating copies of the MP3 files, imposed by the copy protection. On a Mac, you can also burn a collection of files onto a Toast file (for CD or DVD) or a zip file.
