Could anyone help me with a better picture of my legs. I have been an SCI for already five years and only in the last 6 months or so that my right leg has been weakening and literally getting athropied. I cannot even stand still in the parallel bars without the right leg buckling.
It use to be at par with my left leg but now it is so weak. I am afraid even looking at it because it is thinning so fast. It even lost its hyperactivity. The doctors hammers it with their instrument and it does not even jerk or kick.
Anyone has the same experience? Can you please share your observations?

are you fused? And how far , could something be pressing on your nerve roots in the lumbar area

Mike, what does fused means?
I had a laminectomy due to tb granuloma; all went well after surgery not until now.

and I cannot understand why I was prescribed with neurontin for this problem right now... (since my leg seems to be flaccid and no longer hyperactive, could neurontin bring some hyperactivity?)

being fused is when your vertebraes 'grow' together or fuse together?Just what level is your SCI at along your spine?it is possible that their could be something going on at either the lami site or this could be some other issue unrelated to your SCI directly.many many people have nerve root compression or other spinal issues.it just happens over time with wear and tear.when was your last MRI?just what did your doc have to say about this new finding?
you may want to discuss having an MRI of the low back or do the whole thing, since some leg issues can stem from way up in the c spine area.it all depends on just what is causing the underlying problem.but this does need further evaluation.good luck, marcia
