I see a couple of sites on the web mention gabapentin cream for application in arthritis. This might be effective where the damage is actually at the pain site. Have I got it right that neuropathic pain is not actually in the foot, but a brain determination that something is wrong with the nerves serving the area. It would be lovely to just concentrate the drug where the problem is, rather than a systemic treatment but I can't see it working for NP. Any ideas or experience?

Yes I have nerve damage due to SMA . My opinion is it is wonderful but must be consistly applied 2x daily with fairly generous amount to clean feet. Will not work if doses are skipped. Soak your feet daily to avoid nail build-up and cracking. You need clean feet with warm wet cloth other times and also apply diclofenac cream 2 hrs later also 2x daily. Perhaps creams can be mixed but pharmacists are not sure about the results of that.

i dont see how it could work, since it works in your brain, not your foot
