I am so dumb but need help.
Every time I go to You tube I can't get anything to play. It tells me that I may have my JavaScript turned off and if I do I don't know how to check it and I have an old version of Macromedia FlashPlayer. I do have 7.5 and need to update but it won't let me download it. Can someone help me with this problem. I have never had problems downloading anything. I won't to see some stuff on You Tube.

What browser are you using?
Is this new problems?
It sounds like security settings.
FLash should auto instal off their webpage
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
Javas a bit different.
For IE,
Tools > Internet Options > Click on the Security tab > Reset all zones to default or restore defaults.
thats for the java, try Paton's advice for the flash and report back.

I had the same exact problem. Go to Control Panal, and then add or remove programs. Find Adobe Flash Player Active X and uninstill it. Then go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&%3BP5_Language=English and download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. That should get you up and running.

I don't have Active X. I use to. It was good when my grand kids played games on the puter but it can be a little weird so I deleted it. I'm not going to stop trying. I'll figure it out. Thanks a lot because I've tried all the things yall have told me to.

Direct X is for games, not to be confused with Active X which is an alltogether different thing , Active X allows a certain website (IE: Adobe) to have contole of your browser and opperating system.
I would suggest uninstalling all flash-shockwave player programs, then run http://www.ccleaner.com (issues) to get rid of old registries, Then download a fresh version of flashplayer ... keep an eye open for the "pop-up" asking you to install active X from Adobe ... otherwise it wont download.
good luck !
