microphone/webcam

I am having a problem in getting my microphone to work on my laptop. Is there anyway to test it? It is new. I'm trying to use it with my webcam or on yahoo messenger. Thanks.

In the sound properties of the control panels, make sure you have the mic selected. Most chat programs have a mic setup button, MSN does I know.

Go "start," "all programs," "accessories," "entertainment," and then "sound recorder." Click red button and sing "living la vida loca." Then click stop and then play. If you hear playback your mic is working.

Check the sound properties in the control panel. Also check for the volume of and balance of the speakers.
