View Full Version : When not to treat an UTI?

Most often my first indication of an UTI is increased sweating on forehead when voiding. Unfortunately I have woken up from a nap with full blown AD coming on, usually start voiding blood, sweats, chills, increase in BP you know the routine.

I now sent in a specimen and it came back positive though the only 'symptom' I had was a little more moisture on the forehead. From experience I know what can happen so very quickly and how awful it can become.

When do I start taking antibiotics?

Of course you first must have a new culture to determine the correct antibiotic. It would be wise to get the culture turned in now so that if you do have symptoms in the next few days it is already "cooking".

Here is some information about criteria for treatment:

I have had a new culture and was prescribed augmentin. The question is how bad do the symptoms of an UTI get, before I take an antibiotic.
