Is it possible that 4-AP would be useful in treating neuropathic pain? If the nerves are not functioning properly and the 4-AP improves the nerve function through remyelination, would you not also expect the neuropathic pain level to decrease? My son is a T12 and although not the best candidate for the clinical trial because of his level, I wonder if I should pursue it to help with the pain levels. Currently, he has not been able to find any drug that seems to help. He has regained his hip flexors and some glutes and is a year and a half out from injury.
Thanks for your help.

4AP has an effect similar to remyelination. I'm NOT a medical professional, but I say give it a try realizing that there are some potentially serious side effects, but given them, Why not?

One of the first studies of 4-AP in humans in 1992 suggested that it helped neuropathic pain. However, I want to point out that 4-AP may increase sensation and thereby unmask actual pain.
