Hi guys, just following up on my post from 1/23 about my disappointing experience with a pain specialist......I discussed it with my neurologist right away. She emailed me a list of all the different types of meds that are used for neuropathic pain, and asked me to let her know which I have tried. (ended up being like 24 different ones!) After she reviewed it, she said I should try cymbalta, and if that didn't help she would refer me to the Pain Clinic at Johns Hopkins. I was pretty skeptical, having had no luck with any anti-depressants so far. But, to my shock, I noticed a big difference almost from the first day! The burning pain is not competely gone, but it is very much "masked" somehow for me by this med. Even yesterday, for example, I had an extremely exhausting morning doing errands for my daughters 8th birthday. I laid down and watched TV for a half hour, and I actually felt good again just from that. Before this, once the pain started, it just lasted all day. Anyway, I thought I would just share my results. I hope it lasts, and I hope everyone here will have similar luck finding something that helps like this has for me!

Glad it worked for youand that you are having excellent results. Cymbalta left me like a zombie so I quite it after 10 days, I couldn't last the course. I din't see any improvement during that time either.

If you are in MA, check out the pain clinic at Brigham and Woman's hospital in Boston. They run pain trials. Dr. Christine Sang is excellent as is her staff.

I had the same results with Cymbalta. My legs feel the most normal (not that they will ever be normal) they have since my accident. I still have days if it is really cold and I am out in the wind but I can now touch my ankles and havent been able to in 17 years.

Its great that you found relief....
