View Full Version : Weather Related Pain
Unfortunately with the temperature being in the twenties for the last few days the burning in my legs is pretty horrible. I am on Lyrica which works okay most of the time, but this cold weather really aggravates the condition. I am sure others have this problem. Any suggestions other then moving south?

I can wear four pairs of pants and two pairs of long johns and still my legs burn when the temperature drops. I think barometric pressure and humidity effect it too... Does this seem to bother yours also?

i started to look at the weather for increses in pain, but have not been able to graph it yet.
there could be other causes that are related to weather, but not weather. things such as wearing different shoes that may actually increase your pain, this happened to me, i went from sandals to high top half boot, that by itself caused problems, due to lace pressure on ankle.
i would think if you are out and get your extremities cold , which is almost impossible not to do, you will feel it latter.
mike you could try taking the lyrica every 6 hours too. i have really been researching my med, looking at max plasma levels , lyrica half life is 6 hours, max plasma is around 2 hours after dosing, a bit different on empty stomach

flannel lined pants from cabella's are roomy , have big cargo pockets , comfortable and very warm
Thanks for the suggestions. I think that the flannel line pants might be worth trying.

I know the feeling it's in the low 20's but feels like it inthe teens and this is our warm front it's going to be like this all week and next Tuesday high 21 low 2 I'm staying inside that's for sure except for Sat . when I'm taking my wife out to dinner and the a ROD STEWART concert then I'm not leaving my house a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate , and a good movie , I a real movie nut , not much else to do in the winter ,I can't complain , we've been very lucky only a little less than 2 inches so far when we usually have had 19 inches by now. Weather doesn't seem to bother my pain. I just came in from 25 degrees outside (and I have to go back out when the guy finally gets the EZ-Lock bolted in the van), and the pain doesn't change. Everything was killing me before I went out, and everything still is! :(

Any time the weather changes my misery level increases. The last time I used Tylenol Arthritis and it offered short term relief. (I should add along with gabapenton and lorazepam)

A battery operated infrared thermal horse blanket if you are going to be in a chair. Otherwise heated socks and polar underwear.
The horse blanket is better then any type of stadium heated blanket..it will wrap around your entire legs including the thighs and enough left to drape over your feet.
The charge lasts up to eight hours and it is toasty and controllable.

I hope you can enjoy the concert!
I've been keeping a toasty fire in the fireplace most of this winter.
