9.36 billion allocated to the NSF (National Science Foundation) which covers 4 (5) catagories with the average increase of 6%.


NSF - 8% increase (6.02 billion)
Math & Physical Sciences - 6% increase (1.15 billion)
Education & Human Resources - 2% increase (.816 billion)
Geosciences - 6% increase (.745 billion)
Engineering - 8% increase (.629 billion)
Good engineering may help with developing cheaper energy but other than this, the return of investment is going to be hard pressed to account for. The Federal Deficit is almost 9.5 trillion and the education budget accounts for .1% of this. Science needs a 1000-fold profit to balance the National deficit.

Rock, good point and I agree. Science is the source of much of the profits and economic strengths of the United States. Wise.
