I"m trying to install Thunderbird for my email. I do not understand what to put for my "incoming server" nor for my "outgoing server". I looked at the tutorial on this & am still puzzled. I have an account with hotmail.com. How do I find out what my incoming & outgoing servers are? Thanks! M22

You need the SMTP and POP3 settings. If your running outlook, they're there in your mail account settings.
Else, goto your ISP webpage and search for mail settngs, and it should give you the 2 server addresses. It's usually in the FAQ pages, as it's a common question for everyone.
They should be something like this:
pop.broadband.rogers.com as the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
smtp.broadband.rogers.com as the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box
Which are for a Rogers ISP

Hotmail is a web mail service and does not provide this.
You need a www browser.
The incomming mail server in a mail clienty is POP3 or IMAP4.
POP3 is a single INBOX that is usually emptied after sync.
In IMAP4 you have multiple folders on the server.
