After considerable thought, I decided to try a new forum here. Entitled Science, it is for people to discuss science and scientific issues. We don't really have a place in CareCure to discuss science and this may also be a venue for attracting more scientists to the site. There are many scientific issues that are relevant to the spinal cord injury community but do not fit in the Cure or Politics Forums where most of the science seems to be discussed. Let's see if this forum works. If not, we can always close the forum and transfer the posts to the other forums.

I am starting some threads to give an example of the kind of discussion that we can have.

Wise.

Good idea. Should it be limited to SCI-related issues, or more general?
I hope the threads don't degenerate into religious arguments.
An example of both issues would be the threads on evolution.

It should be on all science. It is not a religion forum so people should focus on science. Wise.

I renamed forum Science & Technology, to broaden its coverage because much of what is being discussed here is more related to technology than science. Wise.

Yes, there are probably more technocrats here than there are scientists. But whatever you do, don’t open it up for chefs because then you will have it going and look like a Martha Stewart forum in no time.

Dunno, the meaning of the Norwegian Wood is not clear but we have a good festival named after this that takes place every year. Roger Waters was one of the foreign artists there this year, very Norwegian Wood :D

Hope this is right place for this? Has anyone heard of stem cell surgery in China for spinal cord injury? Heard of a man a VAHospital in Long Beach, CA that went to China and says it helped him. I hear that the Drs. have him under observation at the hospital. My husband has spoken to this man and says he's around 70 years of age and a quad. Please email comments to me at bthesing@juno.com. I wonder if it would worthwhile for my husband to go?

bthesing, you should try the CURE (http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32)forum, you'll have better luck. Some members here have gone overseas for treatment, and many have posted their experiences. You might also try the search tool near the top of each page.

Good luck.

I'd like to thank Wise for creating this forum. I'm not smart enough to post here, but it's very informative and objective. Carry on.

I just renamed this forum Science, Medicine, and Technology... since many of the questions here are related to medicine as well. Please post cure and cure related questions and information in those respective forums. This forum is for discussion of science, medicine, and technology that are not necessarily related to care or cure of spinal cord injury and related disorders. Thanks. Wise.
