My husband installed a video editing program on my laptop. During installation it bluescreened. It had just returned from the shop due to a computer-floor collision.

When I try to uninstall this program, it says that it can't install. If I try to install or download anything large, it bluescreens on me now. I need this program off, and I guess my laptop needs to go back to the repair shop. I have Adobe Illustrator coming, I'm excited and want to be able to install it with no glitches.

Any advice?

Try doing it in Safemode.... f8 or f10 on startup. It probably installed part of the drivers so its causing a screw up.

use the restore feature in winxp to bring things back before the program was installed

Worse case, you can save your important data to a CD, reformat your drive and then resinstall your programs.

The infamous bluescreen of death...I hope you can get it resolved Betheny.

Sometimes the bluescreen is a registry issue. Have you any apps to check out your registry?

Video editing on a laptop? That sounds like an excersize in frustration. Big processor power needed for that, and well, most laptops dont have the big heat generating processors needed for that.

Yeah, Andy, I know. Unfortunately my laptop is much newer than our dinosaur of a desktop pc...the desktop is so slow it takes forever (I'm told, I don't use the video editing program.)

Anyway, System restore fixed me up, at least until he tries to reinstall that program.

Thanks everybody!
