Fujitsu Siemens has developed what it claims is the world's first electronic paper that can be flexed, can display color images and can do so when the power is turned off.

I believe this was the first commercial product to make use of 'electronic paper'.

Unlike LCD technology electronic paper has a very slow refresh rate and only requires power while updating the image. Hence battery life is measured in 'page turns'.
