It's a new opiate - a long-acting form of oxymorphone. Don't know if it's available yet.

I'm going to give Opana a try. We'll see if it doesn't stop up my plumbing - if it doesn't, maybe I can build up to a dosage that has some effect. Starting at 10 mg. (if insurance covers it.)

Opana ER not covered by Medicare Part D, or, apparently, Maryland Medicaid. Lowest price I found was $275 for 100 10 mg pills, and we don't have that. Company has no program for people who can't afford the med - I called to ask.

The insurance approved Opana, so I'm going to try it, but I don't expect anything. I haven't been able to get to high enough doses of any narcotic to get even a slight bit of relief from the pains, which just keep feeling worse. Every day, it seems like I feel tighter, and it's more difficult to breathe and to move my arms. Nothing helps pains or popping shoulders, and I don't know what the hell to do.

Oxymorphone........Sounds to me like a cross between Oxycodone (Oxycontin), Morphine & Methadone........

What do you think?

Wouldn't mind trying it!

I was quite sure this was an answer to the pain, very positive going into trial, Opana is what I call 'pre-digested for your liver, it is the substance that oxycodone? breaks into after your liver works on that popular med . Not a positive exp, most disturbing was/is the emotional disability:( , darkness,a feeling of hopelessness I did not get from methadose(except over the constipation issue and the increased tolerance after 4 yrs on that) Opana also caused headache, muscle cramps, colon stinging/burning/spasm and relapse of constipation. Skin sensitiviy as well, burning, and night sweat.
Emotional and headache, and muscle cramping symptoms only relieved by 5 mg prednisone 2x daily. Tried Soma, midrin, benadryl, no help. Ran out of pred, so, I took one more dose yesterday as per my Dr's reccommendations, but, today if he wants me to keep on this I wil be reporting him and going nuts in pain >>>this can't happen, God can't bring me this far to drop me on my bum. it will be ok.Colon, sphincter pain along with Ulnar pain/arms and legs/ at only 5mg, them 10 mg am/pm. Also, does not reach pain as deeply as methadose, lortab breakthrough combo{4 years on that, wanted beter so am trying some new ones, also, constipation led to pre-cancerous polyps(removed)}.

I tried the Opana IR 5 mgs when it first came out. For me, it worked as well as Endocet 7.5mg. It may have been something else, but I found it to cause an almost tinny ring to my ears. It put me in a good mood but didn't do much to block pain. I'm back to all forms of fentanyl, waiting for a real cure.
