for those of you who don't know... I am a complete quadriplegic injured at the c5 - c6 level.
I am writing this message because I am becoming more and more concerned about my right shoulder.
If I were to look in the mirror, my left shoulder looks normal, but my right shoulder looks very awkward, and is also very uncomfortable.
To give you some idea of what my problems are... well, in my left arm I have control of my bicep, and can flick my wrists a little bit. No finger movement. I also have good control of my left shoulder.
The problems on my right are: I do not have good control, I only have biceps *no wrist movement*, my right arm sits closer to my body, and my shoulder blade kind of wings out, thus making my posture on the right gives me an awkward appearance. My shoulder also locks when moving or stretching it to a certain extent, that doesn't allow me to maneuver my arm very easily. My right arm is also significantly weaker than my left.
Is there any way to correct my posture, the pain I have, or to move my arm further out to the side.
When I go to sleep at night I have to sleep with my right arm straight out, because if I keep it close to my body my shoulder blade gets very uncomfortable... it's almost as if like I have to keep my shoulder blade flat against something at all times in order for it to be somewhat comfortable.
I probably would be able to transfer if I could get this problem under control. That is if this problem is controllable and fixable.
