Good day. I previously posted this in the wrong forum probably...

Upon going through PT, a therapist recognized that I might have a case of HO developing due to some stiffness. X-rays were ordered and it was discovered that I had a slight case of HO in both the right and left hips--moreso in the right. My doc at Shepherd prescribed Didronel (etidronate disodium) for twelve weeks. I was injured in September of 2005 at T-4 and was initially diagnosed as having a complete injury--though much has changed since then to make it incomplete.

The reason I am posting this is because since I have been taking Didronel (for two weeks now), and am now feeling sharp pain in my right hip--like something is sticking me under my skin. I am going to have to schedule another appointment with my doc to check this. I was wondering if anyone out there has had this HO pain experience. My doc says with my nerve impulses working and getting stronger and getting beyond my injury level I will begin to notice changes. I was not expecting this pain though. Any insight? Thanks.

I had a very sharp pain for about a year in my hips which is way below my level of feeling. I had it so long i just got use to it. The bone does not have to stop growing to have the surgery. I just had my surgery last week and the burning has gone way down. I normaly wake up with a burning feeling in my hips but now its pretty much gone. I'm sure as the incistions heal that it will be even better. If you want the best doctor on your case try to get an appointment with Dr. Kyle Dickson out of Baton Rouge Genral Hospital or Lady of the Lake (Baton Rouge, LA).

Thanks Zam.

I actually lived in Baton Rouge for a year and am familiar with Lady of the Lake--though I never had to be in a hospital before all this. I'll followup with my doc upon the next appointment and see what's what. This pain is pretty annoying but I hope I can get even more feeling below the injury level in time.
