Can anyone recommend a pain doctor or pain clinic in Northern California? I have received a request for a referral. Sure would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks So Much!

Sorry no one else has pitched in on this question. I don't keep a database of docs. My generic suggestion is to simply tell folks that you can often find a pain clinic at major teaching hospitals, but obviously this doesn't help you have a clue as to their success at neuropathic pain (or whatever kind of pain you're dealing with). I was pretty sure I remembered someone mentioning a pain clinic in the Bay area, but it's been years and I can't recall any specifics. (Rancho something, as if that would be enough to help, LOL)

In mid upper California I have heard good things about UCSF; however, once they combined with Mt. Zion's HMO I have heard less good. If I were in far north California I would consider making the drive all the way to the University of Washington which is one of the premier pain clinics in the country. Just my opinion. Fresno has a pain fellow but no actual clinic I know of.

The pain clinic at Stanford University is great! UCSF has had some changes in administration that made things difficult for doctors to give the kind of attention they used to, but they have some great researchers there as well.
