A link between perceived quality of life and death has been reported. Krause & Kjorsvig (1992) found that individuals with SCI who were generally more satisfied (LSQ) and who rated their own adjustment as better than others with SCI, were more likely to be alive four years later. Unexpectedly, recent medical history was unrelated to mortality rates.
