I don't know if anyone else here has tried it...I didn't find any other posts on it anyway.

I must say, if you haven't, it's definitely worth a try. I did the two week thing, and for the first time in a very very long time my abdomen was not all swollen/distended(I almost forgot what my abdomen should feel like)and my bowels and BP seemed to be working better. And I've had issues with impaction, constipation, you name it. I've been taking stool softeners ever since I left rehab. And I keep on hearing over and over how laxatives and stuff like that are not good for you, but some of us can't help it. I'll be honest, at first I thought it was just some wild coincidence that it helped my abdomen, but I went off of it for a while...needless to say I started using it again, and I'm seeing a difference again. My abdomen was getting that uncomfortable swollen feeling again, but in the last week I have seen yet another improvement....which means for me, its in my best interst to keep on using it.

So, if you're looking for some non-stimulant related relief...I would highly recommend trying the Activia yogurt (and no, I don't work for Dannon :) ). Not to mention yogurt in general is good for you.

Just thought I'd mention it. Maybe it could bring some relief to some of you.

Jenn--thanks--I'm looking for something else to regulate my bowels cuz this fiber and stool softener thing isn't working too well. Does it make you have loose stool or are they still well formed?

Don't most all yogurts contain active cultures? Is there something different in the Dannon stuff or are they marketing with a new spin?

activa (according to the commercial) aids your GI tract to move better and regulate.

Stool is still well formed. It doesn't work as a laxative, it helps to regulate the digestive tract. It contains Bifidus Regularis, which is what makes it different from other yougurts. I've also been told that most yogurts contains active cultures that help with yeast infections.

You can also check out www.activia.com (http://www.activia.com)

They will have a lot more information.

I should add, I still take my stool softeners, primarily because many of my medications cause constipation/hard stools. But I definitely attribute my bowels working better to the activia yogurt.

I've been eating daily about 6oz of Nancy's yogurt which is made locally. Don't know how widespread is their distribution, but it is very good with LOTS of bacteria. They also have an informative website:

I've been eating the Activa yogurt. Haven't really noticed any change.

The yogurt changes the bacteria in the colon. It may or may not help with bowel care but it won't do any harm to try it.
