....tapping foot. Have you found the correct drivers for your modem yet?
WinXP usually has a modem driver in its database that will at least get you online. Then just find the updated drivers for your particular make and model at the manufacturer's website and update them.
I just installed a 56K dialup modem (alongside my broadband modem.... no conflicts at all) for use as a "Telephone/Fax Center" but it took me hours to update the modem drivers for this Creative ModemBlaster Di5631 with data/fax/voice. Finally I learned, after much trial and error, that I needed to uninstall the XP generic drivers before installing the newer make/model drivers. Usually you just install "over" the old drivers when you select "Update Drivers" by right clicking on the modem (or whatever device) in the Device Manager. Oh well, live and learn.
