199 ? that's well below the lowest its been anywhere on the all the hot deal forums, the 336 price was about the lowest ever.
sure its a dell 20 wide? lots of good wides out there,
i was looking at the 24 inch for a long time, than realized that two 20 inch were much beet er than a single 24inch dell, for about the same price

What's the response time on those? I've been wanting to get a LCD, mainly to have something lighter than my current 55 lb. 19" CRT.

response time? or refresh rate?

Jim, went looking at Dell.com, looks like response time is decent @12ms. Dot pitch is a little big though, @0.258mm. Still ought to be a decent pic though.

Dan, response time is how long it takes a "pixel" to react to change in an lcd. The faster the response time, the smoother the picture. If it is slower, you get "jaggies" as your picture changes, like in watching moving objects, or game playing.

I'm not sure if Dell has more tha one 20" model, but I've heard great things about it. I run the 20" Apple Display & they both use the same panels... forgot the type... but all I know is that I've been *extremely* happy with my ACD, & I use it for color-critical work.

Mike: I don't know about the $199 price at Best Buy? I really like the Dell 20-inch wide screen LCD. I hope to have one in the near future. Good luck.

I have a buddy who works at Best Buy... there is a sale this week, $199 for 21 inch(20?) LG widescreen lcd monitors. 8ms response time, other specs are good also.
I had never heard of LG until last week.

I was in Best Buy looking for a replacement plasma...I sat in South Carolina store for 2 hours comparing projection/lcd/plasma...then went to Knoxville here in TN and looked for another hour. After 3 days of intensive comparison at their website.
Plasma's are the best HANDS DOWN. Rear projections have a sorry picture compared to either lcd OR plasma. Their only advantage is they are cheaper.

Back to story...I walked out with a LG plasma, blew away all other pictures, LG's were the best vs all the bigger names AND have the best (2yr vs 1yr) warranty.

I'd recommend LG name brand, personally.
This picture is better than real life! My photographs after downloading to computer are un-real, they are sharp as life and MUCH BIGGER! It's a 42" so those 3000x2001 digital images are huge.
Got some great flower shots that you can almost smell...
gotta get a big monitor if at all possible....@199 now is the best time!

I don't know if you recall Goldstar (http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/5092/Goldstar%20(now%20LG)_Studioworks%2076i%20ot%20LG% 20CS770.html) which made less than mediocre TVs that you could find in supermarkets, but they are now LG and they make excellent electronics. I could not find the $199 price at Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7692268&type=product&id=1138083976140), but that is a very good deal! Let me know when it comes back.
