I am flying back to Colorado tomorrow and I want to bring my laptop. Has anyone here flown with a laptop? How is it going through security? Any tips of advice?

Any advice on flying in general? I have flown exactly 4x post-SCI so I'm still getting the hang of it.

For the record, I hate flying and would rather drive cross-country for 4 days than sit on a plane for 4 hours...

I've taken my notebook on several flights. It's no big deal. They just make you remove it from the case before putting it in the x-ray machine, and no, the x-rays wont hurt it.

I never flew on an airline before my SCI even though I was a pilot, but I've flown 6x post SCI. I don't know what I could tell you that you probably don't already know. Every time I've flown it's beed a different experience.

That makes two of us. ;)

they like to make you boot up laptop at security to make sure it's a functional puter. make sure battery is charged.

although xray should not hurt it, i never send my laptop thru it. don't worry if it goes thru, tho.

flying while dis is not fun, but i've done it so many times in 20 yrs...but i have quit doing it lately cause i'd rather drive too :D

Yeah, they know what to do about laptops, they get people with them all the time.

As far as advice, I heard if you are the first crip in line, and you have a compact chair, that they'll stow it in the cabin for you. It's worth a try to ask.
If your seat cusion isn't too thick you may think about bringing it on to sit on for the flight.
Bring an empty soda bottle in your carry-on in case you need to duck under the airline blankie and 'empty'.
