By Hugh Davies

The walls of Court 73 reverberated to the chorus "Freak out!" yesterday as the Beatles took on the computer firm Apple in the High Court.
Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the two surviving members of the band, and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison are suing Steve Jobs of Apple over the use of the apple logo.
Apple Computers vs Apple Records
Apple vs Apple
According to Apple Corps, a company set up in 1968 to release the Beatles' songs and manage their creative affairs, Mr Jobs broke an agreement to stay out of the music business when he launched the iTunes music store.

I figure - worst case scenario, Apple has the cash to buy Apple records. But they'll wait on the court verdict first. The only good thing to come out of this trial is one of the funniest things I've heard in court for a while:
Apple Computer attorney Anthony Grabiner on Thursday said in court that "even a moron in a hurry" could tell the difference between his company's logo and the one used by The Beatles' Apple Corps.

I guess the next obvious question is - what if Yoko Ono were in a hurry?
Chris.

Apple Music isn't a public company, so the owners can hold out for any amount of money. Since it seems to be a vanity label owned by incredibly rich people, it might not be feasible for Apple Computer to buy Apple Music.
It is wierd though - we ARE comparing apples to apples, but they are still SO different.

exactly - it's not like the logos are remotely similar and will cause confusion.
I guess the people here who use pine cones or glacier-capped mountains for their logos all need to be sued.

I have a logo that I tried to "legally" get registered. Nobody had it! -- I just get taken by the lawyer, $1000 later I gave up on it. In the end, I still "own" the copyright because it is original work -- just spent the $$$ needlessly :o
My take on this one, Apple records should win!, Jobs was too nearsighted in those days to think we could actually have MP3's in existance. Now makes me feel unconfortable of his ability as a "visionary"
