We have completely gutted our master bathroom and have had the commode moved ... we will have a 5 x 5 shower and I am looking for ideas as far as how to do my counter/sink and shower. thanks
This is my bathroom. It is apart of my bedroom. We just knocked down the wall in between and gutted the whole thing.
It's not the greatest, but it works well for me. My dad had it done about 3 months after I came home from my injury.
He's redoing the master bath on the otherside of the house this summer. It's a big bathroom 20x14. It will have a roll in shower and raised toilet. It also has a hot tub. Haven't been in it since I've been hurt. He's gonna come up with something to get me down in the water. The tub only sits about 1 foot off the floor. -Ed-

This is the only pic I have but you can see that it is a wheel-in shower, whole room is tiled in small grey tiles with white higher up, rail cutting across 1/3 of the room for shower, rest is sink and toilet (not seen). Very simple, 1'm not a fan of clutter in the bathroom. Sliding door separates bathroom from dressingroom & bedroom.

These are great to see, thanks! I'm putting in a roll-in shower right now; I still have a whole lot of tiling to do. I don't have a final plan for the sink yet, but I don't have much room. I hope to be able to have a little accessible storage space; as your pics show, you can't fit a lot of stuff onto a hanging sink.

Here's mine - sorry don't have a picture of toilet but apart from a single grab rail it's just a normal toilet with a softsit seat.
Whole room is done as a wetroom - room measures about 16 x 16

Hope it gives you some ideas - I really wanted a bathroom I could share with tha family and didn't feel like a disabled bathroom.

mine is not but 8' x 10', but was enough to put a roll-in shower where the tub use to be...
i was unable to re-size my pics, but don't forget to angle your tile downward to the drain area..
I have the pre fabed roll in shower and have to say from the hotels that I have stayed in the tiled in showers (like Carbar & powerwheels) are really nice. When I get my own place that is what I am going to do.

I saw a remodel show of a bathroom on tv the other night...One thing I really liked since I sit in a chair to shower and I hate messing with that hose 'n shower head.....they had 4 in x 4 in silver plates at chest level and also a foot up from the bottom of shower, It sprayed interrmittently from those places as well. It would have to be custom built but I'd like that compared to what I have now.

here's my bathroom...i don't have the measurements of it but i could find them out if anyone wanted

There are some great pics on here! Some AWESOME ideas!!! When my bathroom is FINALLY completed, I'll post lots of pics of it. For those of you that don't know, it's a total of 230sq ft including the dressing area. my roll in shower is 30 sq ft and will have body shower heads on all sides. One really neat feature that I found in my long hunt for the perfect bathroom items was a corner toilet. It is made by Eljer and had to be special ordered, but it takes up a LOT less space. Still easy enough to roll over if you need to(i don't I transfer onto it) and comes in a a couple different heights for your preference. ANYWAY, I wish I already had pics to post, but the project has had a few delays....as soon as it's done, I'll post tons o pics...

These are all fancy bathrooms...cool stuff.
I've never used a bathroom that's super accessible. I think a roll-in shower would scare me. Too much extra space around me, haha.
Just give me a bathtub and a shower bench and I'm set.

Some nice bathrooms! Mine is rather modest and kept the cost low... pulled out tub, used a shower pan made to fit standard tub size and tiled in shower from there. besides keeping cost low also wanted to make it easy for a buyer to put a tub back in when selling house if they choose too.

Here's how my bathrooms are going to be done in my house. The toilet and sink will be on the other side of the wall/curtain in order to allow use while I'm in the bathroom.
Since my elderly inlaws will be living in the house also, their bathroom will be done the same way. Mom hates bathtubs and has her own walk in shower in the basement. It's the size of a roll-in because she gets claustrophobic.

Finally moved into my new house. It's very practical.
In front of the toilet I have a little closet with a bin and drawers for catheters and stuff.
There's also a small closet IN the wall to put dirty laundry in. The laundryroom is on the other side.

WOW ! these bathrooms are nice! I bought all my tile(photo attached) and have more of an idea of how and what I am going to do. Riz I really like your counter/sink/cabinet area, I want to go with a marble top and we thought we would leave it open underneath - teh cabinets under the sink are they functional? how far do they come out? does the drawer open?
This is the sink I have chosen:

Damn, when i get rich i want a cool bathroom! i'll post pix when i do ;)
Hi Olossgirl and DeadEye
We got the cabinetes in Loews, they are actualy kitchen cabinetes. Here is another pict of the entire area. The drawer on my sink is false (doesn't open) I use the middle drawers. The cabinet underneath is funtional for storage and we set it back just enough for me to reach everything.

Olossgirl,
Nice sink and faucet, in case you haven't purchased them yet try
http://www.faucetdirect.com/ we saved a lot of money buying from them online.
Good luck!
Damn, when i get rich i want a cool bathroom! i'll post pix when i do ;)
Me too!!
I like the faucets that are high up so if I am running late and do not have time to shower I can wash my hair in the sink. I couldn't tell how high the one you posted was and if you could lean in there to do that. Just a thought.

Riz - do you use a power or manuel chair? my husband thinks he still would not get close enough to the sink if we went with something like what you have. your bathroom is stunning and very similar to what I want even wall color is in my palate. I found my sink online for $237 free shipping (which is cheaper than faucetdirect) and my shower faucets total about 500$ online free shipping also. I got good prices on my tile by shopping around warehouses and got good quality. as far as my counter I went to a supplier that does commercial jobs but has a yard full of remnants and refused pieces of granite we got a really good price there. the commode was a display at Lowe's that had been discontinued worth close to 1000$ and I paid 100$. We are remodeling little by little we chose not to get a loan and every paycheck something is bought in order to complete our bathroom. I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel now that the plumber has moved all the plumbing and my tile and commode have been purchased.
Nice cans guys! I just make do with a wall mount sink, raised toilet seat and a tub bench :zombie: . I would love to have those spacious digs you have. My dream can would have a hot tub in it, great to float around weightless in one of those post SCI.
Olossgirl,
I use a manual chair so I can get in close under the sink. Thanks for the compliment on the bathroom. I'll pass it on to my wife, she deserves all the credit for the decorating.

Olossgirl,
You can have a setup like Riz's but make the cupboards false too. That is, they swing open but there are no shelves or anything underneath. You just roll right under the sink. The doors can even be hung on special hinges that you open the doors and push them back under the sink/counter.
When done, you close them up and it looks like a normal vanity!
(Just a beautiful bathroom Riz. Great job.)

Hi all. Ok here I am posting on an old thread, but I have to ask... where di you get the plans for these bathrooms? Did you design them yourselves or findplans online?
My wife and I designed it ourselves.

Is the rehab not going to do a home study of your house to help guide you guys through this process? People from my rehab came to my home with me and my family before I was discharged and made recomendations and saftely tips for what I needed to be functional. This seems neglecful on the part of the rehab to send you guys home without this, or to even give you some layouts and plans. Try talking to the OT department about this.

Every day I get on this site I hit myself over the head for not finding it sooner. This would have made everything so much easier a couple of years back. I am not going to start redoing my bathroom right now, but these ideas certainly make me want to.

They said they would come out, but I have people ready to work now so I wanted to kind of get started. Mike should be home the 18th and so we need a bit of time to complete a project like that. I think I am just going to extend the shower out, tile it all around, and have a big curtain with bars??
How high up should the toilet be?

Riz, how do you get underneath your bathroom sink, I mean... to get close to the sink to brush your teeth etc. Thanks!

some here like raised toilets, others hate them. Dunno, that's something he shoudl be involved in deciding, maybe?
I use a manual chair and we set the cabinet back just far enough for me to get in and reach the faucets. It works fine for me.
