Hey everyone
I probably should have posted this earlier, but I've been really busy lately, and I actually have a midterm in an hour so I have to make this quick... Tomorrow I'm heading to Vancouver to do a presentation on the mitro/aug for my SCI doctor. He wants to make the other doctors more aware of the procedure for people who've been in traumatic events. As far as he knows, I'm the only female in BC. He basically wants me to tell them how its changed my life, the ups and downs. I plan on saying how it's a lot healthier, easier and makes me independant. Plus if I'm out with friends and cannot do it myself, they can help me without feeling awkward. The stretching of the bladder has taken a while and there was a stage where the "warning tingle" I have when I need to cath wasn't working so I'd be wet, but thats all good now. And tell a bit about the hospital stay. Anyways, I wanted to know if there was anything extra you thought I should say or if there are any specific examples of any sort you would like me to pass on for you. Thanks in advance!

I did this for my uro, except he had nurses that hadn't taken care of patients with this type of surgery post-op that he wanted informed.

You went over basically everything. They were curious about my sensation. If I knew when I had to pee, could I feel the cath go in etc. They were also curious how far the cath had to be put in until it started to drain. Did I ever leak out of the urethra or stoma. How much did I hold pre, and now post. Have I had less uti's. Has it made my life better. Is it easier than before. Of course they all wanted to see the stoma too. How long I had to have the s.pubic in. Will the stoma continue to shrink down smaller, which the uro said yes. I guess if you are overweight or become overweight the stoma can start to dimple in too. I saw a lady's whose had, kinda weird.

If I think of more, I'll post before tomorrow. :)

Thanx november,
I didn't think of a couple of those things. Hopefully I'll be able to remember how long the s.pubic was in! I'm just on my way to the ferry, such a rush in the morn. thanks again
