UAW speech, money shows Menendez's power with organized labor

WASHINGTON -- The last automobile made in New Jersey rolled off the assembly line last April, but the state still is home to 44,000 members of the powerful United Auto Workers union, a group that has given $70,000 in campaign contributions to Democrat Robert Menendez since he entered Congress.

Menendez, appointed to the U.S. Senate last month to serve out the unexpired term of New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, spoke Wednesday to the UAW at its meeting here, receiving four standing ovations from more than 1,000 of the union's political activists who embraced his call for taking America in a different direction.

So Chrysler may be sold off ... I say since the CAW takes credit for when things are going well and blames management when things are going bad, that the CAW should just buy the damn company.

Yes, it is interesting. Newsday was the only place that had this article and they remove the articles after posting it for two weeks. I cannot find it elsewhere on internet.
