Looking for recommendations for a surgeon who has done de-tethering or late decompressions. Midwest US area preferred, but will travel depending on reputation of the surgeon.

Dr. Andrew King did my decompression 4 months post-injury. I'm not certain he does surgery on adults unless he saw you as a child patient though.

Is he in/near N.O.? And have you had any advances since the surgery?

Not the Midwest, but Craig (near Denver) is a major center for untethering procedures.

I would also inquire through the acute spinal injury unit at Northwestern in Chicago. This is the acute unit and ICU associated with the Rehab Institute of Chicago.

BeeBee-
I know that I'm not in the region you are looking for, but my neuro-surgeon did amazing decompression on me & is also VERY well known & respected throughout the state. He came to Orlando from the Miami Project. If FL is an option for you, Dr Nizam Razack was my surgeon. Hope this helps.
