hi everyone, i had my surgery nov.21st. i am still in the hospital---YES! you heard/read correctly. i have been plagued with complications. of course i had an/have an ileaus-although it is almost 100% resolved. i also have an abscess near the conduit and a fluid leak believed to be urine--the ureter is leaking at the connection site. i also have a renal stent and a nephrostomy and a draiage catheter through my stoma. my biggest problem has been nausea and vomitting. finally on christmas day i got my ng tube out and thursday i was able to eat real food for the first time in 5 weeks -----oh the things we take for granted------ yesterday they stopped my tpn feeding (iv food hyper alimintation) today i feell good and may go home on monday.

over all i am pleased with my conduit it works beautifully and i am able to care for it myself which i like. there many mitigating factors for my complications---i would not be afraid to recommend it for someone suffering like i did with chronic uti's.

i hope you all have a great day and say a prayer for me that i will go home monday--oh i can't wait. kathy

Sorry you had such a rough course in your recovery, but glad to hear you are doing better. It sure sucks to have missed out on both Turkey-Day and Christmas dinners though...I hope you will be making up for it with a great New Year's celebration!
