When the pain is real but the cause not seen

Sufferers of fibromyalgia often are misunderstood or, worse, stigmatized.

For years, pain, stiffness and fatigue clung to Lauren Armistead like an invisible shroud. It was tough enough to live with fibromyalgia, but the skepticism she encountered when she discussed her condition was intolerable.

"Throw out a word like fibromyalgia and you'll get this blank stare," the 28-year-old says.

Today, however, Armistead is slowly, tentatively opening up about a disease that is simultaneously emerging from its own mysterious black box.

A groundswell of research has begun to expose the underpinnings of the baffling disorder that affects an estimated 6 million to 10 million Americans, most of them women. Not only do the findings have the potential to ease the condition's stigma, they also may provide clues to other illnesses for which there is no clear clause.

Fibromyalgia sufferers already have some relief treatments which are well known by Osteopaths and myself as a Special Massage Therapist and a " RAMANCHEUR "(French for Dislocated and / or Pinched Nerve Specialist ). It is well known that these sufferers have pinched and / or dislocated nerve problem and many of their problems can be relieved with special techniques which I do as I have over 40 + patients / clients in Quebec and Ontario and as well as many more in the Maritimes that I visit from time to time for their treatments.

I have helped numerous fibromyaligia sufferers relieve their pain and continue to find more and more with the problem.

I also have fibromyalgia and chronic myofascia pain.
The physical pain is bad enough, but what others think of the fibromylgia has been the worst thing so far I have been through. My kids told me I might as well be dead to them. That I was the best mom anyone could ever have and now they'd rather not watch me go downhill. And then again they say anytime I cant do something because im in pain, that im using it as a excuse. and now they are ticked because they say my memory is bad.I feel so isolated and misunderstood and just about had all I can take.
I tried to end it all a few weeks ago and I vomitted all the pills up and blew that one I just cant take all the emotional pain also. And the antidepressants they are a joke they just try to cover things up. But my family wont allow me to just try to live with it all. They want me back to who I use to be and I cant get there, with all this physical and emotional pain. I dont know what to do any more.I have had it since 1989 and its worse then ever. Can anyone help me with suggestions pleaseeeeeeeee

Please hang in there Hope4all. Have you checked to see if there's a fibro support group in your area?

Just even to have you a stranger say "hang in there" means alot. Thank you again David
