i started using lunesta last month, i like it a lot better than ambien.
i would be able to sleep on my own, except i need oxycodone at night for the pain, the oxycodone wakes me up and gives me insomnia..
i get a full 8 hours sleep with lunesta, if i wake up i can go back to sleep.
i was on ambien for so long it was barely working. plus it made me feel tired and slow in the morning..

dear mike,
i take lunesta also. even though i'm on TONS of other meds. it still helps me get back to sleep, if i waken, for about the 1st 6 hours. which is a lot better then i used to sleep.
here's a bit of another good thing about lunesta- it doesn't seem to cause a tolerance, so you won't have or need to raise your dosage in the extended future!!!
so good luck and good nights!

yes so far i like lunesta. i seem to be less drowsy in morning than on ambien, i also sleep longer. per the instructions it doesnt work well with a full stomach .
the oxycodone before bed has a wake up affect on me. i am on cipro also now, and that increases the affect of caffeine in chocolate .even the lunesta didnt work,

I often have a difficult time sleeping because of neuropathic pain. My neurologist prescribed Restoril, 30mg- its a previous generation sleep aid- which i think means its more habit forming, and some people complain of waking drowsiness. I find that as long as I can get 8 hours in, I feel well rested. it really helps me sleep when the pain is over the top.

PS neither ambien nor lunesta helped.

HI DAVID,
i wanted my neurologist to giive me restoril. he said no because i'm already on klonopin. have you ever been on any benzodiazipams, like klonopin, xanax, or valiums?
do you know if restoril is a benzo? i can't sleep 8 hours at a time because i have to get woken to be turned. i'm c-6 complete and can't do it myself. [yet]. i can't move my legs my arms arren't strong enough. they tell me p/t that it's not impossible it just takes alot of practice.
i don't know what yours [or metronycguy's] level is, but can you guys turn youurselves?

hiweepingm i am very incomplete, i have cauda equina, so all i have that really brings me into this world is bowels 9bladder is better after 2 years of ic and a lot of neuropathic pain, plus a limp since most of one lower leg is flaccid.
i had restoril early on in the hospital and rehab and some when i got home, its much stronger than ambien and lunesta from what i remember.

Weepinglamb,
Restoril is temazepam, a benzodiazepine manufactured by Sandoz. Hard to say how those meds differ. There is an article at one of the other central pain sites on some of the newer hypnotics. Your pic looks really cute. Sorry you are injured.

As above- restoril is in the benzo family. And no I don't take clonipin, xanax or valium. I've just come off of a mess of stuff in oder to start lyrica. Todays the first day- so I'm hurting.
Im a c-3-4 "walking quad" (though only about 50 feet, so I'm learning to wheel) neuropathy on right side below the shoulder to the toes, spasticity on both sides, and about 80 percent strength loss on but the left from the shoulder down- so yes i can turn in bed-- sort of.
