Dave, not sure what RTA stands for. I too have a BP injury and understand the pain you describe. I have done a series of blocks and have them done every 6 months or so. THey bring the pain into the managable range. I also use lidoderm patches to decrease some of the hypersensitivity. Hope that helps.

Hi dave, i came off a motorbike 28 years ago and busted my neck and brachael plexus, i still get phantom pains in my fingers that still bring tears to my eyes. i have been around the world and see the best doctors at home too, they all say basically; learn to live with it. my pain comes in waves and when its real bad i grit my teeth and put my head down so people cant see my face grimance. i have tried drugs, 10's machines, hypnosis, nothing works... except one thing i am now trying. when you feel the pain start to surge through your arm and hand, look at a wall and imagine it is a mirror and that you are looking at yourself... when you are looking at your image, look at your bad hand on the imaginary mirror on the wall and say in your mind... my hand is there, and the pain will subside. it sounds really stupid but try it out, i would be real interested to hear how you go...
regards,
grant

IMHO you should keep trying to find something, since stretch injury of the brachial plexus is peripheral nerve and PNI tends to be treatable, but in many it can be very severe. I may be wrong but I think brachial plexus injury is one of the most common nerve pain injuries. Interesting article from Pfizer showed PNI can be stopped by blocking adenosine kinase, but the drugs known to do this contain lead and are toxic, so Pfizer was not going to put anything on the market. Still, there is lots of hope.

Dave, if you had posted earlier you could have saved me my post on getting real. Someone had advised you that you can still have sex in your head? Whoever told you this has a poor grasp of anatomy. Who is your sexual counselor, Jimmy Carter?

Tell them "Just think of the three letters, s, e, and x and picture those letters, black on white so it is really clear in your mind. Concentrate. Feel anything? Not even a little bit stupid"? Actually, if you think of sex in your head, you WILL feel something; WORSE about not being able to feel sex. I don't think other people get this, when they tell you to have sex in your head.

I tried thinking of pain in my head and for some reason THAT worked. A real breakthrough. I was more aware of my pain than usual. Boy, the mindbody is really something.

Hi Grant thanks for your reply i came off a bike too, i guess your reply comes of no big surprise to me, after i smashed my self to bits 3 year ago my B-P also left my hand like a jelly my right hand, and course im right handed i was sent to probably one of the best hand specialist in England [Derby] who did tendon transfers on my hand and arm 60 staples later and learning to training my mind to to use a mussel in my arm to make my hand work i was still left with my burning pain, and was told to live it, i find the only relief i can get is trying to keep my mind occupied and taking a cocktail of pain relief tablets gabapentine tramadol amatriptlean def118 some three times aday but just lately i have been getting stoned out my face from when i wake till i go bed and is the best yet it really does work but now i am getting really fedup with being stoned all the while, but will try the mirror thing perhaps something i have said will help you i hope so Dave.
