Hey guys, thanks for your warm welcomes. I was wondering if anyone is currently using a Baclofen pump. I have a 14 year old that I am working with who has a great deal of spasticity and I am presently in discussion with his Mom about the risks vs benefits. Any input from personal users would be a great help.

Hi there! I stumbled upon this on accident - since I'm not in NJ and vary rarely visit these regional boards.

Ask your baclofen question in the Care section. There are some here that have them, had them removed etc.

also u might wanna do a search of the site (use the one in the blue bar) for baclofen pump....we've had lots of discussions about it.

Welcome!! I was born in Joisey, but didn't live there long. I'm in Montana now.

:welcome: hope you can take things from here and use them at work. I do not know much about baclofon pumps but, I chose not to get one based on someone on here talking about how you need to limit extreme stretching type movements. I try to stay very active and most of my activities require a lot of stretching. Plus I am kind of small, I am not sure where they would put it that it would not protrude and be seen through my stomach. Vanity, such a nasty thing :) I also did not want to have another surgery which would lead to more later (to have it replaced) With that being said some people on here have them and really like them, we all have different ideas of what we are willing to do for what we conceder "freedom" or more independence.

Well, I kinda took a detour -> Joisey > WV > Alaska > WV > Montana (Mom's family is from WV-sorta. When our family was driven off their land and onto the Trail of Tears, they headed north and hid out in caves in Southern West Virginia. My Dad's family is still in Solarino Sicily. They came to Jersey after the lynching of Mussolini looking for work. After Nonna died, Nonno returned to Solarino.

I consider myself a Cherokee Sicilian Hillbilly chick who married a Montana redneck.

it works for me. LMAO
