View Full Version : need some advice
hi there ,
it's been 1.5 years approx. since my injury , after my accident i didn't feel this pain , i just started to have it like 3-4 months ago , its kinda like uncomfortable pain and feeling in just one area , its just under the ribcage the level of my injury T9 ...
its really bothering me , it irritates when i put a shirt on , i cant even touch it then , and it kills to have a shower all the time ,
i don't know if its important to consult a doctor in this matter because i cant really describe what it is , and not many doctors are familiar with it if you read where im from ,,
i heard alot about neuropathic pain meds here on the forum and i wonder if you could consult me for the better and more effective ones , is it safe to take it without consultant as i dont have any health issues and diseases (except for SCI ofcourse!) and can i buy 'em online or something ?
thanks alot for this wonderful forum , i have learned alot from it .
regards A.J.

I have also similar pain. Is your pain area on the right hand side of your body?

i have another question , can also have anti depressant without seeing a doc :D
i think that nobody visit this side of the forums that much ...

What I have on my right hand side of the body is a combination of pains I believe;
1. In the right hand side groin, and lower abdomen area I believe the pain is due to some problems with the bowel system and the way the bowel system is designed on this side of the body – the colon. It feels like the pain is kind of just on the inside of the body, under the muscles.
2. In addition and this pain also goes further up on this right side I also have some other pain, the pain goes all the way up to the nipple (Th4), this pain is like needles and pins and also like burning and it is also painful just to touch the skin. This pain I control with 3x600mg/day Neurontin – and I believe this is Naturopathic pain. When I’m off Neurontin I get terrible pain over my entire right side of the torso.
It is also liveable for me but very irritating. The left hand side of my body are pain free. Some red wine and alcohol controls the pain on the right hand side perfectly, all pain more or less disappears – but HEY can’t be drinking all day long. Leif

Guys I highly recommend trying the digestive enzymes. See the thread titled "Neuropathy pain" for reference. It could change your life, it did mine and a few others in the same condition. All you have to lose is $30.00 if it doesn't work. If it does however, you'll lose the pain and improve your digestive process...

Stlyin. I have seen the tread you refer to. I wanted to comment and say thank you for the information but haven’t have time yet so I do it right now – thanks. I have printed out the thread and will discuss with my doctor (meaning I will try it anyway). Thanks again… But I’ll still stick to the red wine from time to time regardless the outcome...

Same thing here. I'm 50 and have been a T-5 complete for 26 years and kinda outta the blue, 2 years ago, I started getting a knife-like pain in my right side which sometimes goes all the way around to my back. Sometimes it'll change into a burning pain. Since I've had it for 2 years now I think I can rule out cancer.... I'd be dead by now, right?
I'm a life-long smoker so thought it was probably lung cancer.... lower-lobe of my right lung. I figured I'd start from the bottom and work my way up so went to a urologist first and had an IVP done and my bladder and kidneys were perfectly healthy. A few months later the pain got even worse so I went to the ER. Had chest x-rays (that was a longgg wait to see those!) done and a sonogram of my liver and gall bladder etc. also done. Everything checked out fine. The doctor said the pain was likely from a bladder infection so administered a drip IV right there and sent me on my way with a prescription for antibiotics. Augmentin. Well I already knew that I probably had a bladder infection of some sort. What's new, right?
And like in the past when I would take Cipro most of the pain goes away. But not all of it. And it creeps back after a week or so. I've since changed my catheterization technique so I will either get penis cancer from all the alcohol and hydrogen peroxide that I use or it will just fall off altogether! Who knows and at this point who cares... but I'm gonna kill all those bacteria and kill 'em dead. So I've taken double doses and regimens of Cipro and Leviquin to make sure everything was "disinfected" including my kidneys. And I pay for my antibiotics out of pocket so you know I'm really trying to get to the bottom of this. Multiple hundreds of dollars.
So I either have a painful right kidney infection from some weird strain of bacteria that I get no other symptoms from or the pain is from something else and I don't have a clue what it is. My urine is non-odiferous and perfectly clear.
I hardly ever go to a doctor. I don't even have a doctor or GP. I avoid them like the plague. When I went to the urologist it was the first time I'd ever seen him. And I know if I go to a doctor it's gonna be such an ordeal trying to explain this mysterious pain and then going to different hospitals or health centers for bookoo tests and all that crap... SCREAM! Can't I just live my life of silent desperation in peace and quiet?! :)
It doesn't feel like neuralgia or a neurological pain. I have some of that but not much. This feels like a sharp knife in my liver or lower lobe of my right lung. The pain comes and goes in pangs like every 5 - 30 seconds but stays painful sometimes too. A few weeks back the pain even disappeared for a few hours. Wow, what a welcomed but short-lived relief that was.
I don't think it's bowel related either. There is absolutely no change in the pain while I'm doing the bowel program or before or after. If it were bowel related you'd think there would be some difference in pain before, during or after voiding the lower bowel.
I hardly drink anymore either. Maybe once, every two or three weeks. But when I do drink the pain seems to go away. And I take no drugs for pain or anxiety etc either.
I've been doing stretching excercises with trunk twisting and turning too.
It's a mystery that I sure wish I could decipher.
Sorry I couldn't help but maybe someone will be able to put all these mysterious pains together and come up with an answer. We can hope!
thanks for your posts guys , and i thought i was alone :)
it's really bad enough to live with SCI , this pain make it even worse ... i cant even try to enjoy life (actually i don't but atleast try) ...
we hope that a professional could comment on this ,
you guys didn't even answer my questions :D , i dunno if i can order this meds online or not
thanks anyways, A.J.

Bob,
Sorry to hear you are having this pain, which has involved a lot of workup without a clear answer. Wish you well.

Max, yes you can order the enzymes online. Here's a link to the place I order mine through... http://www.aim4health.com/ The ones I use are called Prepzymes. I hope this works for you.

I have chronic ulcerative colitis and have started taking these:
http://store.yahoo.com/iherb/allzyme1.html
1 month's supply for $7.12, and it's all plant enzymes.
I order B12 and others from iherb.com and have good success with them. This enzyme therapy has worked so well that I am off my Asacol ($220/mo no insurance). For the first time in 18 months, I can eat real food. I've been on the BRATS diet since I got sick because trying to add "real" food doubles me over in pain and causes a flare up.
thanks alot stylin moe , actually my question was ( can i buy medication for neuropathic pain online ? ) i mean is it saif without the doctor prescribing it ?
thank you very much though
ok im sorry stylin moe , i was in a hurry and i didn't read the thread you were talking about , i just read it and i think i'll give it a shot ... i really hope it works
sorry for this misunderstanding ..
