View Full Version : Need Doc who'll prescribe 4AP
I know somewhere in the past there was a thread about docs willing to prescribe 4ap. Unfortunately, my doc won't do it. . .
I live in the Seattle area, T 10-11 SCI 4 years and am looking for a doc who will write a scrip, hopefully without having to see me in person. I have medical records I could send over.
Anyone know someone?

You probably need to hunt around for a physician who will prescribe it, but I would caution you about using any physician who would agree to prescribe any medication for you without seeing you in person. Such a physician would be violating a number of state and national laws, risk loss of their license (or may have already lost it) and would also be violating several ethical standards of care for physicians.

If you call or email College Pharmacy in Illinois, they will provide a list throughout Canada and the US of docs that will prescribe .. at least they did to me a year ago..
Unfortunately the closest to me was 8hrs away in North Bay.

The following link will take you to a page in my website where there is additional information about Acorda no longer investigating 4-AP (Fampridine) in clinical studies. This information was gathered by my sister Laurie O'Connell (Clinical Research Associate/Monitor) at my request.
Due to the fact that people have received some results from this drug, I plan on trying it for 6-8 weeks to see what happens.
According to my sister, if you do decide to give 4-AP (Fampridine) a try, consider using the same compounding pharmacy for 6-8 weeks to rule out the possibility of any instability factors between pharmacies. The logic behind this recommendation is that the same compounding pharmacy uses the same filler (which is believed to be a possible mitigating factor in the conflicting reports of effectiveness in the treatment of SCI).
Even though I haven't used them yet, I have heard that College Pharmacy is reliable and plan on using them. I hope this helps.
