Being a quad, summertime is pretty rough. When I go to bed I'm usually warm, so I use only a sheet and turn on the fan. A few hours go by and I'm shakin' like a heroin junkie because I'm soooo cold.
I have always used X-10 to control the lights and fan in my room, but I recenty bought a wireless, large, X-10 button. I set it beside me and give it a whack to turn the fan on or off depending on my temp.

Lots of ceiling fans come with a remote control to operate the light and fan. You can also convert an existing fan. My remote has three fan speeds, a temperature setting and a light dimmer. Much, much cheaper than adaptive technology, yet not suitable for someone who needs large buttons.

Thanks!! This will work great for where we live (in the mtns) where the house is hot at night in spite of it being very cool outside. Once the house cools down we are freezing. Right now, I try to smack the fan with my cane, but it doesn't always work. I can't always get up myself nor can I wake up Booger to turn it off either. So, I might get a remote. :applaud:

You can also get an X10 timer & set it to turn off at a particular time. I use one in the winter for my room heater & heated mattress pad. I'm usually the coldest after I first lie down, but don't want to leave my furnace up all night.
