I don't like the seat at all. It's kind of shaped like the letter C and it's design is quite thick at the bottom curve. What or how do you make a safe transfer? how do you maintain balance??? i'm pitched quite forward and it's scary. larwatson and jeff and anyone else?? who has an idea or suggestion? i need some help on this one. i transfer in/out of bed, driver's seat. this is different.
Thanks.

Claire,
I'm wondering if your seat is set up correctly. The bike seats at NI actually put you in a slightly leaned back position. As far as transferring, you're right it shouldn't be anymore difficult than getting in and out of a car. If the seat is set too far back I do have more difficulty, so I make sure the seat is up in position (29 1/2 or 30) this puts the housing of the bike closer to the seat which I will often use to brace myself during the transfer.

I stongly recommended when I tested this bike for Electrologic that they not use this seat. It is more efficient as the lower part of your legs are not making contact as much as with the older seat (Orion Model) but it is an accident waiting to happen. Even I had trouble transfering on and off this seat and I really wondered about quads. I wish they had taken my advice and stuck with the old seat. Contact Heather and see if you can get an older model seat and exchange yours. Even she thought they should have stuck with the older model seat and was over ruled. Good luck.

Thanks guys,
Lar, I will experiment with it. I'm comcerned though because I'm only 5'1 1/2". I don't have long arms so balancing on the center console is tricky. Curtis, what does the Orion bike seat look like? I was hoping it was designed like a car seat. All that contour is unnecessary and paras are the least of Electrologic's problem as paras have full arm use. This is not quad friendly and it is not smart to attend to lower level quads who can transfer. The goal for me and many others is to not need help every time i want to use it. Alot of people may not purchase or end up sending it back. Curtis, Heather guaranteed that i could use this independently. I will figure it out, hopefully. I think alittle contour at the lower back and seat would be enough. A seat belt comes with it so if you're a higher level quad more support is available if one needs to be strapped in. Also it should be a level transfer for those on the border between being independent or not with a transfer.
Thanks.

Like I said talk to Heather about swapping seats, yours for the Orion Seat. The Orion seat looks much more like a Car bucket seat and is much longer on the lower portion of the seat allowing for a a much larger transfer area. Getting on the seat of the Galaxy is kind of hairy, the first time I transfered onto that seat, I nearly fell flat on my face. There is way too much padding too, making it that much more unstable. The Orion seat is much more firm. I remember years ago, they designed a custom seat for Christopher Reeve, may want to ask Heather about that too. Mention to Heather you are the Co Moderator with me on the Relationships board. I am sure she will take care of you and get the problem squared away.
