Yesterday I was working out on the Neuro Gait Trainer at it's maximum speed (2.2 mph) and the machine could not keep up with the speed that I was thrusting my legs forward and downward as the machine was providing the power and the I Beam Walking Machine was neutralizing that whole gravity thing.
Pushing it to the limit and beyond must become a habit considering the hurdles we with SCI's must overcome.
In the past few months I have seen a C6 quadraplegic do a thousand situps in one session. Yesterday I saw a young poll vaulter who is sadly a quadraplegic admiring his bi-cepts in the mirror. This guy is amazing in his dedication to maximize his physical conditioning. I have watched as a paraplegic is not "learning to walk" but is walking on his own with no braces using only a cane for support. This guy works hard everyday and has a great attitude, as do all these people I witness almost everyday.
Attitude, commitment, and the desire to be in the best shape possible is what drives these people. These people realize the importance of exercise and are benefiting from it. They are healing, slowly, but they are healing.

Please excuse this edit but I have to mention Brandon Gray, Arnie and Cari's son. He suffered a head injury; prognosis, ZERO. He exercises everyday and yesterday counted to 16. Had his parents given up on him as the medical community has, he would not be alive today. I talk to Brandon, he talks to me. He exercises! His progress is amazing. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
