My husband just got an RGO in January. I have spoke with a doctor who says he finds that people don't use them once they get them and that they are not energy efficient. Then on the other hand, a different doctor recommended my husband get one. What do you know about them or what is your experience with them? Any input would be appreciated.

For my daughter (T12-L1 incomlete), the RGO was a means to an end. She didn't use it for long--only a few months--and only while at PT. After the RGO, she "graduated" to a KAFO and an AFO. She never used it in public, because it was way too bulky and inconvenient. On the other hand, it got her on her feet and using her muscles. So there are definite advantages and disadvantages. If an RGO is transitional between a chair and less bulky braces, it probably worth it. Otherwise, I doubt it...at least, for some people.
