I have been asked by several of you to tell what I know about IMT. Well from 1 phone call to the center, several emails to one current patient, and 1 News letter I have gathered the following. There is a company called IMT, that has centers all over the US. They combine intensive physical, electrical, and massage therapy. They have a "5 year" plan that "they say" will get even completes walking again and quads the use of their hands and fingers. They don't take insurance and charge $140/hour. They give you the forms to get reimburshed for insurance. Most comprehensive companies will cover all or most ot their charges, because they are licensed therapists. They give you books and VHS tapes to view at home. You must buy an "E-stem" type machine, kafos, and walkers for home use. Again insurance should pay for those with a Doctor's form. You go for 8 hours of therapy every other week. The rest of the time you do the exercises and other procedures at home. They teach your caregiver everthing. The purpose of the visits is to measure your progress and answer questions, etc. I like that idea a lot! I will enroll my son in the program after the holidays. I will let you know how he progress. I know of one complete C6 female (30yrs +or-, that can now walk with Kafos and a walker, and has limited use of her hands after 1.5 years on IMT. She had nothing below C6 before IMT. She is 3 years post a car injury. She commutes from the PanHandle of Fla to Atlanta for the therapy. Others commute from Arkansas and North Carolina. If you like, I can email you her photo. She has developed upper body muscle strength, that would make most female professional tennis players or golfers envious, let alone a complete C6! According to the therapst that I spoke with, that female patient is right on schedule to complete the "5 year" plan. We will give it 6 months and if it works, we will stay the course. If not, well its off to France for laserpuncture or maybe Project Walk. Miami won't take him cause he is only 17. So far we have done UAB, Shepherds, Schriners, Health South Lakeshore, Warm Springs, Ga, and Quito, Equador.

Cheers:

PS. I don't work for them and am not being paid for this segment.
