I would love to get my 21 yr old son some of the equipment you talked about - fes bike, fes stim, etc., but how do I go about getting my insurance to help. Also, how much space does this take - do I need a new house for room? Thanks.

bschiner, you may want to read a recent thread I wrote "Your Own Recovery Program" which I will bump up or do your own using the 'search' function here in the "Cure" forum. I've provided all the sites necessary for the optimum exercise recovery.

My feeling is that a spare bedroom or garage would offer adequate space for a home based fitness program.

Debbie7 also has a good thread which I will bump up.

Onward and Upward!

Can any of these stim bikes be used from your wheelchair?

I use the Pro Go Flywheel bike from my wheelchair. I had to mount some AFOs on the petals. I did that by placing a block of wood under the AFO, on top of the petal, and one on the bottom of the petal. Then I ran some screws throught the whole assembly, with big washers and a rounded off head of the bolt where my feet would rest on them. This is an increadible work out; better than even the pool. I come from the back of the bike, strap my feet in the AFO then use my hands to push my knees so I can get a good motion. While I am doing this I concentrait on working my legs and it really gives me a great work out.

Great List and Good Work!!!
