June 13, 2003
Friday is the big day for students of two of Ohio's largest universities.
Both the Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati will hold their commencement ceremonies today.
About 5,600 students are expected to receive their degrees at the Ohio State graduation at Ohio Stadium. Actor Christopher Reeve, best known for playing Superman on the big screen, will deliver the commencement address. In 1995, Reeve suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury, when he was thrown from a horse.
Reeve says he is honored to be chosen to speak at the commencement.
In Cincinnati, UC graduates will gather in the Shoemaker center Friday afternoon. Bill Geist, an Emmy-award winning CBS correspondent will speak at the University of Cincinnati ceremony.
University of Cincinnati graduates will have the chance to create a unique memory after their commencement ceremony. 'Snaps & Gowns' will allow graduates to take their pictures with life-size cardboard cutouts of UC President Joseph Steger, football coach Rick Minter and basketball coaches Bob Huggins and Laruie Pirtle.
