When I got my bac. pump the Dr.also prescribed my pain meds and told me he was the only Dr.I could get a pain med. Rx from. My pain has increased a great deal over the last few months to the point of becoming intolerable.I have severe scoliosis and a shoulder that needs replaced. My pain Dr. lives 200 miles away and is seldom available. He added hydrocodone to darvocet and 200mcgs duragesic patches last week when I got a pump refill. The hydrocodone just makes me groggy. It's useless for the pain.

I've came close to going to the E.R. or to my local PC Dr. for help when it gets out of hand. If I do,can they give me IV pain meds, if necessary, without asking him.
Thanks

Yes, absolutely they can give you pain meds without his permission. It's ridiculous that he has left you without options and is so unavailable to you. Go to the ER for help.

I'm sorry you're in pain.

Can you find another pain doc closer to you? This one sounds like a real schmuck.

I often consider calling the paramedics and going to the ER (I figure I could tell them I spasmed out of my chair or bed, and that it further aggravatted my pains, so they'd check my neck and upper back with an MRI, while giving me IV pain medication.) Anything to get some relief from all the bones sticking out of my back, and the scraped-off skin feeling everywhere.

If you go to a new doc or clinic be sure to bring with you all that you are taking, and directions along with, so that you do not run the risk of overdosing on anything and so they can assess your needs better. It is for your protection, and that may have been why that doctor said that, so that only one cook is stirring the pot so to speak. Please do find someone closer, who can address your needs as they arise. Good Luck whiterabbit11

Tried accupuncture. No joy. Doesn't hurt to try it.
