am a 47 yr old male who suffered a C2 Fracture with intrusion, C1 Displacement, Closed Head Inj, and other minor injuries. I was placed in a Halo an the bone healed but not in a good way. Part of the bone was in my cord, thorugh the dura for 7 months. It took 7 months for surgery which corrected the leak to my brain, etc..

I am not paralyzed for whatever reason there is. According to Medicine, I am a 1-2,000,000 miracle. The problem I have is that I suffer from CHRONIC(24-2) to ACUTE Pain, but Doctors have no idea how to handle my case.

I have been on Neurotin (still) because I had suffered 15 petit mal seizures per day for 2 yrs, but the Neurotin is now used for pain management. I take Ultracet but no other "stronger narco. I stopped narco's 2 months into my injury, with halo on and all. Maybe that is part of the reason phsyicians do not understand me. I have been using my own brain to counter pain but there comes a time when you can no longer do this.

I would like to hear form anyone who may have suffered a similar injury.

Thank you for your time and this opportunity to share! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

gypsyman, welcome. As soon as I find a little time, I will try to see if there are cases like yours published in the medical literature. Wise.
