Is it just me, or is the bottom line for the majority of posts that no medicine for burning really works.
To me, there are two aspects to be treated in pain.
1) pain
2) the psychological distress
As to the pain itself, if there is a drug that cuts it, I would like to know.
As to the emotional distress, I have found several drugs which sedate and calm me, but I do not regard these as pain medicines. They are coping medicines.
I realize the shooting pains, tingling, and muscle cramps can be treated with opiates and other drugs, but sometimes the plethora of anticonvulsants, GABA drugs, etc. seem like a wild goose chase with respect to the burning. Sometimes the meds seem more like endorsements of an infomercial, or the old traveling medicine show than a specific treatment for burning dysesthesia. Does anyone here actually have anything that stops the burning? If so, what (please)?
