I have overwhelming spasms, spascity & central pain. I have tried every medication combination possible and nothing is working. It has impacted my ability to recover and my very existence. I am in severe pain 24/7 and am don't know what else to do. I feel that I am forced to consider the baclofen pump. I am including a description of my pain and the meds that I am taking. Does anyone have any other solutions for my situation?

Very fast, white hot, racing, pins& needles shooting through whole body all paralyzed areas including hands & fingers. Flows up and down body and all muscles contract at the same time. Muscle contractions get tighter &. Tighter. When break spasm (knees 90degree or frog then spasms subside & left with a buzzing electrical feeling. As buzzing subsides get tingling electric shoots of pain in random areas. From this will get extremely strong leg jerk spasm very painful. Legs will shoot out straight and spasms come in waves over body or legs will do scissors.

Simple touch or deep breath sets off severe muscle contractions accompanied by extreme burning tingling pain. Have to fight my body to lean forward, back arches and slides my entire bottom and legs forward into an extreme slump.

Pain is constant 24/7 and no med combinations are helping. I have scheduled an MRI and x-ray of my neck/spine. I am also consulting with a physician that does baclofen pumps.

Meds taken:

80 mg baclofen/day
24 mg tizanidine/day
10 mg ditrapan/day
25 mg elivil day
2 mg diazepam day
400 mg ibprohen day
(2) 7.5 mg vicoden day
30 mg cymbalta/day

Thanks,

Elaine

In not sure whqt good this will do, but I tell you this. What you described, saved me from posting the VERY VERY exact symptoms! When I say exact, I mean Exact. Heavy heavy feeling sharp Pins and needles, a numb weird tingling in arms and hands, spasms in lower back, and legs, all the things you are going through so am I. I find myself to consumed with the pain and terrible feelings. Even sleep is absolute HELL. I wake up in terrible stiffness and pain at my line of injury every AM. I am T-12 PRA COMPLETE. My name is Mikey and I feel for you. Cause I do understand. I have even been told by a Doctor that normally SCI do not usually produce this much pain, and maybe I just wasnt handling it very well. My resonce was, we cannot be talking abot the same apples to apples pain. NO one could endure this without terrible conviction to live on, as it is truly horrible. I hope for help for us all. My email is bauerzwheelz@yahoo.com please email, maybe we can help each other. Also an other help, Im open to it as well. Thanks, Love Mikey, (FLA)

It would be nice if we'd find an answer. I can barely use my arms any more due to the bones sticking and skin-ripping sensation, and then there's the rest of my on fire body to deal with as well.

Elaine,

You did a good job of describing it. YOur dose of benzodiazepines is low. Are you sure you posted the right dose. 2 mg of Valium per day? you might talk that and the cramps/movement over with your doc. Maybe it interacts with Baclofen or something so the dose must stay low.
