For me, i love to take my pain medicine as i makes me feel better and be pain free. I usually count down the hours/minutes until my next relief from pain will begin...

So why do i hear that people just hate to take medicine. If its becuase its a bother to take them, but having intense pain is MORE bothersome for sure.

I would just like to know other peoples view on taking medicine??

Thanks!

I hate taking medication because I hate having to be dependant on anything(or anyone). I will take my medications as I know that they make me able to be more independant in my life and also make it more bearable. BUT I hate having to...Prior to my accident, I hated even taking Tylenol for a headache. I would wait until pain was unbearable before I would take something to help. Now I know what I need to take & when. I don't take any more than I absolutely have to.

I know another reason I've heard why people don't like to take their meds is because of the side-effects, like making them feel in a really bad mental fog. They're depsparate to have the relief, but they hate the consequence of having to not be fully mentally there.

yes side effects ,
its the see-saw effect for me how bad the pain vrs how the side effect are for particilar meds. if the pain is low enough to have that option. when pain is really bad side effects dont matter as much, at least to me.
luckily my pain is in recession, i believe dueto over 2 years of acupunture 2x a week.
i have been able to discontinue the antiseizure meds,
curently using 25 mg Desipramine daily, a tricyclic, less sleepiness than elavil, but quite a bit of urine retention, which alone could be enough of a problem to want to try something else.
