Brian, have you checked in with Shepherd Hospital yet? I wouldn't do anything without their input. They're the best in the southeast.

Brian, I would suggest checking in with the Southeastern States regional chapter here. Lots of Atlanta people and those in the area who utilize Atlanta docs and Shepherd. I haven't lived there since 2000, so my knowledge is probably not reliable.

Also, I'm going to contact a couple of members here whose SCIs are due to gunshot wounds and refer them to your post.

Hope all goes well. I'm kinda jealous you're in Atlanta. Great place. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Brian, I was shot in the neck 14 years ago causing a sci at T1 T2 and the bullet is still there. The doctors said the bullet is lodged in a muscle and there was no need to remove it. Most of the time I don't even know its there unless I move a certain way.

What level are you? did the doctors ever tell you exactly where the bullet is?

After two weeks in ICU, the doctors determined that the bullet in my neck could be removed but the decision was mine. I think for the first two weeks, I was just too critical for them to operate on me but I was surprised that I had this option to leave the bullet in or take it out. I wanted the bullet taken out and to this day there are some small fragments left over.

My injury was incomplete, after about a month i had alot of sensation and some movement. Even into the third and fouth year i noticed little stuff coming back but not much.

brian i also want to remind you that jack was injured many years ago and had a very traumatic injury. jack please correct me if these next statements are wrong....
he also had very minimal rehab, did outpatient pt for a year. (not that great of a therapist). i personally feel that with greater therapy he would have recovered much better. therapy today has advanced so much!
