With all this talk about the cure and that we are closer than ever, I just want to know if you think that the cure will fix neuropathic pain or if there will be a cure for just neuropathic pain?
And how long do you think it will be before we get some relief from this pain?

quadpro, it is something that we will have to learn. As you know, there have not been many therapies that restore function. There are already hints that olfactory ensheathing glial transplants are producing transient manifestations of neuropathic pain in patients during the weeks after follow transplantation, in the form of burning or other kinds of pain in the dermatomes before sensation returns to those dermatomes. From animal studies, we know that many of the regeneration therapies may be resulting in animal biting or licking parts of their body below the injury site, perhaps a manifestation of neuropathic pain. We call this autophagia and that acetaminophen (Baby Tylenol) helps ameliorate such behavior and prevent progression of autophagia. Thankfully, so far, in most of the patients, the neuropathic pain appears to be transient. Wise.
