I broke a tooth this week (haven't been able to catch the dang dentist), so the sharp edge is cutting my tongue when I talk or swallow. Just what I needed - another sharp pain (and something else that impairs eating.) Aging - bah.

Alan, same thing happened to me and the raw tongue was bad. I found a temporary filling material at the grocery store. I can't remember the name, temparin or something like that. It comes in a little plastic clear vial and I think it is the same thing dentists call cavit. Oddly it tend to adhere best to the sharp edge. It only lasts about a day but there is enough to do about three applications in one vial. Each vial costs about 3.50. I was having clay mouth for about a month until the dentist sanded off the sharp edge and I could stop using it.

I'm using the gum wax. It helps, but it has to be removed to eat.

Still haven't gotten the dentist. If this keeps up, my tongue might hurt as much as my back and gut. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Getting older sucks. I'll have to think on whether it beats the alternative.
